Okay, so, this is a rewrite of a song from the 1903 musical.

In the musical, rather than a donkey in love with The Sawhorse, Dashemoff Daily is a human in love with Dorothy Gale.

Sir Dashemoff has never met Dorothy, but decided to fall in love with her anyway, and so he writes her a love song. Dorothy has her doubts because he got her name wrong.
