This chapter and chapter 10 aren't based on any chapter of Marvelous Land of Oz or on anything from any other Oz book! They're entirely original to Yellow Brick Ramble and happened as a result of the changes I've made to the story. Ozma never joined the army of revolt in the original story, after all!

The closest part of the story that this chapter is analogous to is the early part of chapter 9 of the book: The Scarecrow Plans an Escape because this is the chapter where Ozma speaks with the Scarecrow for the first time.

Long time Oz fans will see the meeting goes much differently than it did in the book.
